We would like to introduce a case analyzed on July 6, 2021. We received a request for analysis of "three items for coating content testing and three items for leaching testing" from a construction company in Miyagi Prefecture.
There are two types of tests for coatings: content testing and leaching testing, each with different purposes. The former is conducted to prevent "exposure to workers" and "dispersion into the environment" during stripping work. Coatings may contain hazardous substances such as lead, chromium, and PCBs, so it is important to investigate the presence of these harmful substances before stripping work begins. The latter is similar to leaching tests for other industrial waste. Since the required items may vary depending on the municipality or disposal site, we recommend confirming this before disposal.
